The time has come. Meet The One.

    Hey everyone! Remember me? ;)

Today, I announce that I am returning to the ShellShock Live community. For those of you that don't know, I was an avid ShellShock Live 2 player who left in January of 2015 to focus on life in full. I played ShellShock Live 2 quite a lot in the past, and decided that I needed to distance myself from it in order to focus on what really mattered in my life, while maintaining a steady balance between reality and the digital universe.

I know I will be seeing some familiar faces around here in the coming weeks, but I also know there will be new, fresh faces I will be meeting as well. So, for those that have forgotten just who I am, or those that don't know at all, here's a little bit about myself:

    • Professional music producer, graphic designer, and all-around multimedia developer from the United States.
    • Creator of various successful relics of the past for the ShellShock Live community, including formerly used forum graphics, the Kyd's Shock Report reading articles, and voice of the general populace during controversial times.
    • Company founder, gains-addicted workout freak, and highly outspoken critic.

For those of you wondering what I have been doing for the past year and two months, you will be happy to know that I have completely turned my life around. Since last January, I have moved to a much nicer residence, secured a stable job I enjoy, became the owner of a very opulent vehicle, created a home studio with a retail price exceeding $10,000 USD, and lost weight on my mid-section to gain weight on my arms and legs through intensive workouts and weight lifting.

Needless to say, this is basically the complete opposite of where I was when I left over a year ago. But let me tell you: It's good, so good, to be back here with you all. :D

Now, before I wrap this up, I'd like to mention something: I now own a copy of ShellShock Live on Steam that I play regularly. In the past, I have spoken very ill of the game due to various reasons that I honestly believe were extremely justified. I'd like to clear something up, for Kyle, if he is reading, and the rest of the community:

I really appreciate the steps that have been taken for ShellShock Live on Steam to become a more successful, more playable game. Now with a consistent flow of updates, bugs/glitches being looked at thoroughly, new weapons and game modes added all for free, and exposure to bring in a huge tidal wave of players, the game is genuinely... adjust your eyes and glasses ladies and gentlemen because I am really saying this:

    A good game!
I love this change in momentum that has occurred, and it just goes to show that when you put good work in, you get great results out. That is what I preached all along, and now I see it being put into motion. ShellShock Live on Steam gets two thumbs up from me!

So... I guess one thing left remains: Add me on Steam, "hollywoodcollins." If not, you'll see me in-game as "The One." I look forward to reading your all's responses to this thread, if there are any, and seeing you all around! :)

DA KING IS BACK! Your final command to give me shallots was, luckily, only the last of 2015. ;)

Well, I've actually been composing some music myself. I dunno if it was because I was inspired by you or I was just interested in doing it, but here is the link to my best one... https://musescore.com/user/5452711/scores/1820371 Probably not as good as the ones you are making, but whatever. xD Maybe you could even give me tips on how to improve... :)

Also, were you the person with the username "The One" with your avatar a few days/weeks ago? If so, I got a sneak peek. :D

GREAT to have you back on the squad! :D

That was indeed me! I wanted to see if you would recognize the avatar or not lol. And that composition isn't too shabby. I wish I could provide you with what I have been working on musically as of late but due to it being confined strictly to the company, I'm not allowed to do that. Regardless, I believe with that piece you have potential to create on a much grander scale. Have you considered purchasing a DAW (music host program i.e. FL Studio, Cakewalk, etc.) or standalone VST to play with?

This hasn't really come to mind. I've been pretty comfortable with MuseScore because the way it is formatted makes a ton of sense to me. It has keyboard shortcuts that make composing easier for most people, but I only use the mouse pretty much because I can't consistently remember those shortcuts. I've been more interested in getting better sound libraries (commonly referred to as soundfonts) for some of the instruments, but MuseScore is kinda a jerk when it comes down to that. xD But yeah, those really haven't come to mind.

Fair enough. I used to work with soundfonts a lot in my earlier years. They are a quick way to make complex compositions with semi-realistic instruments without destroying a CPU. If you do get into music production on a real serious level though, I am always here to give advice. I too once did it as a hobby, and now look what happened lol.

I did actually find an older composition that I suppose wouldn't hurt to bring up from my archive. So, this is (sort of) the type of product I have been working on lately. Needs to be remastered, though.

Also this will give anyone else viewing a peek at what I do. ;)

FL Studio is some real good shit dude, the UI is godly and it's so easy to use.

On the other hand, Ableton Live is not that CPU intensive. With 4gb ram and 1.4ghz of CPU, I was able to run up to 10 instruments at once without lagging. But overall I would not recommend it if you can run other DAW because it sucks at orchestra.

FL Studio has always been my DAW of choice. Great UI, compatible with everything, consistent (FREE) updates, and not so bland in color that you get sick of looking at it. I don't know much about Ableton, other than most of my competition in my city uses it.

Not bad on the CPU usage by the way, pretty efficient really. Does Ableton use it's own sound card like FL Studio does with ASIO? Really helps on latency and power management.

Not too sure about that but I'm certain it doesn't use ASIO, I was able to run other media files with Ableton opened up so.

Lol that always annoyed me with the dedicated ASIO sound card, but now there is an FL Studio-specific version of ASIO that's packaged with it that doesn't disable your standard sound card's output, so you can produce and do whatever else at the same time. Still waiting on the option to set a VST's custom color upon loading into the channel rack/mixer though.

    King!

I knew you'd be back and at such a good time as well.

I'm glad to know the past year you've been gone has produced a lot of positive results in your personal life.

I have missed our talks and games we used to have on Kongregate playing SSL2.
I apologize for that diminishing on my part cause I moved onto to SSL on Steam after release.
Aside from that I have a few other games on Steam that fill my time, so I have all I need there game wise.

I basically only go on Kongregate to get badges of the day nowadays.
Aside from once in a while collecting some badges.

I apologize also for not keeping in contact via email as well like I said I would.
The past year has been very busy for me on game and in real life so I never found time.
I did come on Kongregate time to time trying to catch you on though quite often every time I visited.

I tried adding the names you suggested above that would help find you on Steam but had no success.

Please add me. We have a lot to catch up on. I have also been holding on to your shallots as well. <3

I also remember that user named "The One".
I can't remember if we talked or played though. I think you mentioned you knew me. I thought it was a fan boy of yours cause of the avatar but should of trusted my gut.
Lol hope this happened if I remember.

I also had to use an old conversation to reach you on here since you restricted a new one being created or comments on your page.
If your fine with it, I'd appreciate if I could make a new one between us on here so we could talk here as well as on Steam.
Remember I'm not a mod anymore for reasons you know about but it was for the the best. Hard to do anything under difficult circumstances when I was.

Hello again, old friend! And yes, some people saw me around sparingly but I never revealed who I am. Only used the avatar as a clue.

Apparently a lot of people have had trouble finding me on Steam? It's just "hollywoodcollins" though so I'm not sure why. I changed my profile to be viewed by the public instead of privatizing it, maybe that'll help.

It's all good though on us not speaking much though. I, much like you, am busy nowadays, so I would have done a pretty bad job of keeping in touch anyhow lol.

I added you on Steam, provided your name is "Google567" on there. Hopefully that clears things up.

I think you really earned the right to "brag". I see you've worked very hard for the amazing life you are currently living now. I think this is the kind of thing I should be doing with my life. Ditching bad, lazy habits and and doing everything I can to succeed. That'll mean having to find a way to fight my addiction to gaming for a while. I know I'm a smart person but my real-life laziness, shyness and anxiety gets in the way.

I myself am studying music in school. I might end up teaching kids about music, or conducting a choir or possibly composing my own music if I'm good enough. If for some silly reason I want to ask music theory questions on a game forum (I'm assuming you're good in music theory) I now know who I can consult :) I know I have a good ear, but the analytical, music theory side needs development.

Like Referee, I've used MuseScore. I haven't uploaded nearly as many scores as he has. I do have one silly, insane choir piece on there that I made, full of obnoxious chords.

I just wish when I was very young that instead of asking my parents "Can I please have an Xbox for Christmas" I asked "Can I please start taking piano lessons?"

But hey, can't cry about the past. Focus on going forward. And anyways although I don't know you all that well, I'm glad to see such a prominent member of the community return and I see that you're a very smart, successful and nice guy.

Thank you! And actually, as a kid I too asked much for video games, but when I got older I just started producing for fun. Eventually turned into a hobby, then a career, now a lifestyle. I do wish the best for you though in your own pursuit! And I am always up to talk about music production!
