It's because this whole moderator blabla was chosen by popularity originally (or else we would never have controversies related to staffs). We had many non clan people and clan besides DH before, but stuff happened, right? Some of the mods are doing a great job and I don't think any other people from Syndicate or Tasty Tanks would perform a better nor worse job. Would just be a waste of time and energy.

Also, I don't see a difference in people from DH and other clans. Staff members are not supposed to represent a clan or anything, they are supposed to maintain a community clean. I see where you are coming from and perhaps there is a little bit of bias here and there but overall there will barely be any difference if we de-mod one mod and replace it with Syndicate or TT. At this point, it's sort of nitpick-y. I think you are exaggerating.

First off, clans and staff. Those are two completely different things. It doesn't make much sense why all the staff are from the same clan should make any difference. The reason we have the current staff the way it is, is because each person that is part of the staff has shown they can take handle a situation with both care, and seriousness. So why change that to begin with? There has been no problems with the current staff before. But also note this, in the past it wasn't all just "DH", so the reasoning that "DH" is trying to even monopolize doesn't make any sense when there have been previous moderators not in DH before, and even that didn't work out so well. There is no reason for any new staff members for two reasons.

1). We have enough staff members as it is to begin with.

2). There isn't anything wrong with current staff for the need to change, or add new staff members.

Again, staff members for THIS forum, and clans in game, they should never be paired, it doesn't make a difference what clan someone is in. What matters is a persons ability to be able to handle situations with the best possible outcome with maturity, at the same time have patience, and be able to work together with the staff as a whole. If a staff member is having problems with the rest of the staff, or the community, or has shown they are incapable is working together with other staff. Or is doing something wrong like provoking the community they are supposed to serve, and protect, then something is wrong. Although none of the current staff has really done anything to warrant any reasoning for their removal. Therefore, why try and fix something that isn't broken to begin with?

I didn't question their integrity. I think they do an exceptional job; and my post wasn't an intentional ploy for SYN or TT looking for a staff position. And it's not an exaggeration when many, not just me, speak of the DH staff monopoly. Even if there was others that were not in clans as being staff members, that would show a sense of diversity so DH won't be frowned upon because Kyle appointed them by an SSL2 popularity contest. The game has evolved and an adjustment of staff would add change without it being stagnant with years gone by. I agree there would be no difference in forum leadership, it's just getting DH out of the mud for what seems like one clan taking over the forums. Like I said, they all do a fine job.

I agree with Bach strongly. There was even a time when those inside the staff as the minority and those outside were scared to give thier opinion of this.
Not to mention those that did were critized. The critizers didn't have a proper view of the situation to start.

    My Take Of The Staff

When I was a moderator I encountered way more internal conflicts inside my own staff group then anywhere else.

I strongly believe the fact I was from a rival clan at the time and had previously had an incident with two of the staff prior led to internal conflicts thst on a day to day basis interfered with myself performing my duties as well as I could of.

The same was true of another friend of mine that was also from the same clan, was great friends with myself, and had been involved in a similar incident with the same staff members prior.

We often felt the past wasn't forgotten and this interfered with the staff functioning as a whole.
    Eventually we both stepped down.
The same thing led to me getting booted the second time.

I don't hold a grudge against any of these people as I would of stepped down again anyways.

The simple fact remains if there had been diversity and the past forgotten these problems would not have ever happened. It makes no sense it's one group but should be 6 taken from the community that represent the community more fairly as a whole.

    Banning

On a side note when I was a moderator we couldn't ban.
This was never truely explained why or if we could to the general community though.

This led to events where people would ask us to discipline so and so but also misunderstanding who handed out displine.

    For example:

In an relsted incident a user to this day hates my guts thinking I could ban him and did. F

I have wondered why bans to certain users have not been justly carried out until after the new rules were put up.
Which is amazing what was allowed before hand by some.

This really. You don't see a country being ran by one sole party alone (unless dictatorship of course) and the forums shouldn't be like that either. It might all be good now, but there always that one moment that could change everything otherwise and its happened before. Although I didn't expect this to be some favoritism thing being discussed.

As far as the main thing in question I don't know a whole lot about the past of the user in question so hopefully they can make the right call. I hope he gets to come back though since he contributes something to the forums and I would like to see him continue doing so.

    Ninja'd :(

That's a big statement and I believe that to be true. If the staff was integrated with a diversity of members outside of being just one clan, you would have had a better chance. But hey, I wasn't there so what do I know.

That was my point which I wish I could of said in fewer words.

It should of been diverised to start as any staff group is.

At one point I really cared for this to happen but then later though eh it's just a game forum.

    Edit:
I partly blame myself for this.
When the community picked Tank Frank and myself to be part of the extended staff I asked for additional moderators to go along with us. I suggested two from DH I felt would be suitable which later on I regreted cause they were two I had the incident that with but at the time were doing a lot for the community.
    My bad :p

Two other DH's were added from another community vote.

Stop bringing clans into the staffs and moderator topic. They have nothing to do with it and they already have enough drama in them. We can't afford to completely scramble moderators around for the sake of people being in different clans when a lot of the people in the clans are not too different from people in DH. It's like saying we should swap in the mods or add more mods because we only have males and not females. Who cares?

I mean, look at this, 4 years since this forum was made and we still don't have stable list of staffs and what they should do on forums. Constant repetition of de-mod, re-mod, new rules, revoke rules, etc. And on top of that, clans?? Yeah, no. It's up to you if you want to be in clans and be competitive or whatever, but don't bring them into serious discussion like this that could completely mess up a community.

I'll reply to all this when I get home....

EDIT: Nvm i refuse to get sucked into this nonsense ( with all do respect to all of your valuable feedback ), i'm just disappointed to see some people that i considered them mature members and friends trying to make the best use of an incident that already dealt with to their own benefit.

If anyone have any concerns he/she shall message me here or on Steam and i'll be happy to reply.

Don't worry be happy... I don't post opinions on controversial matters like this often, but I would prefer to make this clear...

This is a forum, if there is a significant problematic incident that would pertain to de-moding one or more moderators, than by all means, and quite justly, they should be... But claiming that mods that are doing a good job should be removed from staff solely due to extraneous matters is unjust to say the least.

Why are people acting like someone is getting demodded?

All we did was ask why diversity wasn't done by Kyle in the first place.

    You mods are funny sometimes.

They were, but then some were de-moded/resigned. The question isn't why wasn't it diverse, it is whether the original staff was suited, or current staff is suited to be staff.

If you believe the current staff is not suited, please file a complaint to one of the admins, (preferably Kyle) to avoid bias...

    Ah

Well then I guess finding the answers to these questions is better than what's on TV.

The integrity for what you do as staff members was never questioned. The question was why are all of you in the same clan and there's no one outside your clan as a staff member? Some just look at it as one sided that's all. It's not an offensive question unless there's some reason to be defensive. Candor answered the question. Thanks.

    Yeah pretty much.

I even did really since Kyle asked who I wanted way back.
So I guess I played a part in the lack of diversity, although it wasn't all one clan back then.

Edit: I can post a screen of it if you want on my profile.

This is the only reason of yours I find kinda weird. Why don't you compare it to other cases of similar magnitude? I would think looking at what you did in the past in a similar situation would help you bring about a more informed decision. If this is wrong, can you explain why I'm incorrect thinking this? Thanks.

We definitely compare it to other cases which happened in the past (as example we're doing that right now on the current case), but the biggest part of our decisions is case-by-case. In my opinion the case-by-case system is better for smaller communities. If we wouldn't use the case-by-case system, several active people on the forum would have been banned permanently a long time ago for minor rule violations like spamming, but that's what we're trying to prevent, we don't want to lose community members because they violated some minor rules.

The incident that was previously in question has now been taking care of.

Thank you all again for posting your concerns, and thoughts here as it helps us better understand how to approach things, as there is no perfect Moderator, nor Administrator, and as a staff as a whole we continue to learn what to better improve on, and focus more on. And where our faults lie as well.

I noticed that you guys have a ban, silence/warnings log up. Although I can't see the silence/warning page for telling me its fraud for some reason, I don't think giving that kind of information to the public is going to end well. I respect that you guys are striving towards being transparent, but this sounds like a "wall of shame" thread. The only people that should definitely know about their ban is the user in question and the staff. The rest of the public shouldn't need to know whose been banned and what for.
