The objective of this game mode is to be the first to progress through a series of weapons. Specifics: The number of weapons in the set is random for each game. To win, you must be the first to hit a player once with each weapon. When you hit a player with a weapon from the set, that weapon disappears/it's completed, and you move on to the next weapon. When you die, you're not out of the game. Instead, the penalty is a previously completed weapon being added back to your set. For example, the sniper you hit someone with earlier gets added back to your weapon set. Each weapon set consists of 15-20 weapons. Maybe make this an editable setting. So, if there were 20 weapons, then the player who hits another player with all 20 first wins. Can be a team game. In this case, each team receives the same weapon set. Each individual team member receives half of that weapon set. So, each team member has to complete half of the weapon set. The first team to do so wins. Important rule: The weapon set is always the same for each team/player no matter what. This makes it fair. In the rare event that more than 1 player completes their set at the same time, then they tie for the win. I'll suggest two ways to progress through weapon sets. 1st way: You get your entire weapon set for use starting at the beginning of the match. This means that you can progress through it in any order that you want. 2nd way: You only receive only one weapon from your set at a time. Complete one to move on to the next. Players can receive them in random, varying orders, or in the same order. Note: You may think that, in a free-for-all, players might cooperate to win. This is why there is a penalty for dying. If they were to cooperate and let themselves hit each other, they will die a lot, thus adding more weapons back to their set. This will actually give the other players an advantage.
Yes, that's what inspired the idea. If it works in this game, why not? Technically speaking, this game has already taken death match from Call of Duty as well, which in turn took that from another game, and so on. Also, this game already took the weapon "Needler" from the game Halo. In case you haven't noticed, not much is new in any video game now. Everyone borrows something that has been done before and adapts it. I remember reading that this game was inspired by Worms, and you can see the similarities. That game also has weapon and ammo crates.
Don't forget shockshell from Mario Mad birds from angry birds Portal gun from portal What the game really needs is something really new, like marksman was kind of a good try
But if you try to start thinking of new things, it's really hard. It's not possible to some extent to come up with completely new ideas. The game is limited by what it already is, if that makes sense. You have to follow what mechanics are already in place, unless you want to rewrite the entire game. This is true for game modes, at least. Not weapons necessarily. You can come up with a lot of creative weapons.
But this isn't first person shooter. and I think Kyle won't make the matches with side scroll. But come to think of it he does we can do lots of modes and more fun. Capture the flag Drop zone Gun game
Those aren't necessarily "copied" ideas like this game mode. They're more like fun reference to some games. This game mode sounds okay to me but nothing distinct about it compared to other modes.
