Scams on Steam is one of the things that may occur with small mistakes, but most people know Steam as a friendly place that is a miniature version of many game stores combined into one. You can buy games and extensions to the game that you may already own to a criminal low price which of course is very good. But on this program so it is also very easy and get ripped off for several hundred dollars, one detects visa / mastercard as payment cards. It may also be used for fraud if you are not critical.

It is at this point steam no longer the friendly meeting place for players most, but this can be avoided by avoiding and clicking on unknown links that promotional offers to you on the chat function. But not least to double-check the information provided to you, this can save you several hundred dollars in the worst outcomes.

There are hundreds of methods and scams on steam, but often it happens in the form of a foreign person adds you as a friend also send you an unknown link with a free "premium" that you supposedly have won but must first click link to get it.

    example 1

Here a player received a friend request from someone who he never before by greeted as he asks and add to his friend for one offer of an item on the famous game Team Fortress 2, here it is the rather fast as possible to see that the first is poor English and very impatient behavior is typical.

By clicking on this link so you will get on to what we call the phishing method, once you have clicked on the link then you come into a false but absolutely identical side to Steam. The genuine link for steam looks like this: https://www.steamcommunity.com while one will be submitted on that phishing link will look like this:

http://www.steamcommunitywd.com. You'll be taken to a false trippings steam website. Firstly, there is no secured link with the typical (https) and secondly as it added two additional letters that the scammer has added the fake website that he has created identical to Steam her.

Below you will see an example of how a fake site looks

Recalling then that steam its real page will look like this: https://www.steamcommunity.com and NOT like the fake in the picture above.

Already, as you've clicked through and given away the username and password you will be prompted to upload a special file called "SSFN" this file is located inside the folder where you installed steam and acts as an authorization key defraud clean.

By giving away this so can those who have gained access to your user bypass the steam its two-key steam guard security, this makes it that defraud clean now do not have to figure out your email and will notify you every time they log onto an unknown computer.

    example 2
    [IMG]

Here we see one typical steam guard window that tells you that you have logged into an unknown browser or from an unknown computer, this in itself is quite harmless. But the program called "SteamGuard.exe" however, is not it, this will do the exact same as you would do by giving away "SSFN" file, only that this tool does all this automatically without you noticing some things on the computer.

This program is designed as malware that can send "SSFN" file from your computer directly to a Google drive uses that the scammer has established itself in under two minutes, now the scammer will have access to your account, which can then be your games, cards information and any "items" that you have purchased in the game in the value of real money. All this scammer will have the option to either send to other users or delete permanently.

The link is below here is also a pretty ingenious link you can use if you have any doubts about the selling object to is good reputation on steam.

    https://steamrep.com/

When defraud years has gotten hold of your steam account so it almost looked impossible to get it back even if you contact Steam support and speak up, during the time you spend on and send mail to them so your account will either be gone or sold to others under a completely different name.

All information on uses such as email, username and password will be something totally different than what you had when the account at one time was yours. But with dark tales there are also bright, I got my own steam user taken from me in winter 2015 by clicking on a link that was absolutely identical to the image service imgur.com. Already then you accidentally while I was playing so I was thrown out of my own user with a message on the computer screen that the user was logged in on another computer one else in the world.

I was so clearly hysterical and nervous that everything was gone, but I decided to send mail and make calls to steam to the nearest minute afterwards. By giving them information about the user mine was taken from me in a short time so I sat in the phone with them and explained what had happened, while I talk with them so I also sent mail to steam support with pictures of email, username, passwords and all the games I had on account.

Using this and image of various CD keys for games that were placed on steam account so they could identify the account was owned by me and not the person who now sat in another country and played games on my account.

In this case, so I was very fortunate when the person only forrandret name removed friends and played games on my account, but it was obviously time before steam could give me back account.

Only after two and a half weeks so was the account back to its rightful owner, but all friends and groups I once upon a time was gone, and they had spewed around him with lies and hurtful messages to them before he deleted them.

Morality and the point of this story is, DO NOT click on links sent to you in the chat to strangers unless you have first checked that everything is correct with the appropriate domain that steam actually use.

By doing so, you avoid both and spend a lot of time on unnecessary things but you do also and become one victim one of many scams methods that will and can cost several hundred dollars.

tl;dr just don't accept any trades if it seems more complicated than the usual Steam trade with one person.
