Hello. You are most likely here because either this thread caught your eye, or I gave you a link after you were freaking out about the payload shot I just did. This thread will hopefully shed some light on a few tips and tricks.

NOTE: I am not banna. I do not teach arcing to anyone, arcing is an art, if everyone has the same skills, the game would become rather dull, so I bring to you things you should know.
ANOTHER NOTE: I do not take ANY credit for any of these tips, I am just bringing them to people.

    Tip #1
    The 135, 45 cross-sections:
On the left, we see the 135 angle (blue line) crossing the circle around you.
In other words, if they are directly under the crossing of the lines, aim for the following angles:
    Aiming tip 3.png

    Tip #2
    The radius:
If they are right on the radius, you can aim at 95 power, and angles 84 or 96, depending on what side they are on.
    Aiming tip 2.png
If you have trouble remembering it, here is a hint:
Notice that it is very close to the radius, but the power and angle is the same, 96, 96. Pretty easy to remember, and if they are on the other side? Just go to 96, 96, and change the angle to 84.
    Aiming tip 1.png

    Tip#3
    Wind and math
In most cases, wind is pretty easy to cope with, especially for close-range fighting.
    Let's say you have 14 wind >>> wind.png
The enemy is right under the 45 cross section, and all you have left is a sniper. But you want to show off. What do you do? First aim at him as if there were no wind; 100, 86 (in this case)
    Aiming tip 4.png
Take the wind (14) divided by two, (7) and add or subtract (depending on the wind direction) from the original angle.
    Aiming tip 5.png
    And pow.
    pow.png
Of course, you won't always have 14 wind >>> but hopefully you will catch on to the pattern...

    Tip #4
    Firing range:
I'm serious! Don't try to test this in a battlefield if you haven't known of these things, take it to the firing range and practice up, memorize the simple angles, notice more of them. Soon you will learn how to do gull's and magic showers without noobing out and using a shield.

Cool thread. Is arcing using the tank length counting method with full power?

That would be banna's department, to be honest, I don't use that method. Most of the fun in learning how to arc is doing it yourself, hopefully this thread will set you up with a good start, and get your mind working ;)

EDIT: Banna does not use the tank length method.

Hmm. It's odd I wasn't getting alerts for anything happening on this thread o_O. Anyway, there are other things to learn I suppose. Here is an almost useless one.
When on the right side of team map 10, to hit the enemy, the angle and power is 100, 105, but sadly, as we all know the angle numbers are invisible you first shot. So if you have the first shot, why not show off some 'skillz'? Aim right where the red dot directs, and if you did it right, it will be at 100, 105, hitting them, no angles.
    when here aim here.png
Tip: Learn to use your name, learn where to aim the cursor on your name and change power to 100, and don't forget to use the firing range, it's there for a reason ;)

Thanks! I usually just aimed with 95 angle 100 power being at the edge of the radius, then guestimated from there, but now I know the truth... I feel enlightened.

If one is so lucky as to be on the left side of team map 10, and just so happen to have torpedoes...
    torps1.png
And are lucky enough to hit right...
    torps2.png
Why not drag them into a hole?
Please note: This is based mainly on luck, and muscle memory, and also note it does not do Torpedoes' maximum damage, it's mostly for 'teh lulz' ;)

These tips sound good, but how on earth do you get the angle and power to begin with? Sometimes I can see them, but most of the time they aren't there (and I'm not talking about the first turn).

Well, I would say they aren't visible first turn, but I see you are a step ahead of me ;)
I guess it could be your computers' brightness settings, your tab's zoom settings, and maybe even the theme you're using.

So you think it might be my computer's visual display settings, hmm... Do you have any suggestions? (I'm not sure how the color theme windows uses would play into that though)

Well a screenshot of what you're experiencing couldn't hurt, it could be any number of things, the browser you're using, how close you are to the ground, etc.
I meant the theme you are using in-game (blue, grey, red etc.) grey usually has something to do with inability to see angles.

I wasn't aware it was adjustable. I am using the default blue, how do you change that?

Go to the settings tab or the gear icon or whatever, click it, it should have a few options, click on the arrows in the theme button. Well, something like that, it isn't that hard to figure out imo...

Ah ok, the gear-like icon in the disappearing pull-down menu, thanks. There isn't a settings tab.

So it seems there are only 4 colors to choose from, and three of them (green, blue, and especially grey) obscure the text. The red is the best of what is available for contrast, even though it is awful to look at. My screen settings don't really affect this, its a contrast-level issue with the grey-white lines embedded throughout the background colors. So in the end, the red helps a lot.

There are still problems however. The cardinal direction lines in the aiming circle are still never visible within the ground or within the halo given off by the ground. Additionally, the direction and power numbers are still not visible whenever the tank is on the side or at the bottom of the screen (they go off the screen).

To address your aiming circle lines, it is another contrast issue. As you level up, more themes are unlocked and this problem can be avoided further. For your angle numbers going off-screen, I suggest this thread:
    http://shellshockliveforums.com/index.php?threads/sticky-full-screen-application-stand-alone.810/
It contains a link to a downloadable app that is very useful with angles going off-screen, and names.
