    Dude, that was me.
This is perfect except for your rule about only 1 team being able to shoot it.

I meant as in, only one team gets to get once box, and that is determined by the person's team that shot it first, regardless of how much damage he inflicts on it. :D

I think the point of it is to have the box be able to be damaged by both teams.
    You know, strategy.

So what do you think about the equation? Should it be adjusted or twinged a bit? ;)

I think it's good, but your "number of players on one team" variable might be messed up because of the fact it can't be destroyed by only 1 team.

And how about for if it's an iron crate, we just divide the diamond crates total by 3?

Hmm... how about a crate that bounces when you shoot it, but can only be collected by driving into it? It could be a good way to get supplies closer to teammates, or away from enemies. Or crate with timers on them showing the number of turns before they disappear. Lower timer means better loot.

Oh I like the way you think. I'll add those to the OP.

Actually, it wouldn't necessarily be the same thing. Treasure Chests are hidden. I already harvested an underground crate. An Earthquake buried a hovering crate and when my opponent sat over it I harvested it with a Digger. I would like to see visible crates that rise from the floor and stop before reaching the surface.

I prefer the idea of the loot increasing in a crate as time goes on. Crates that are not harvested for several rounds would have more and/or better loot than those taken immediately.

Gifting crates could be used to give your teammates or even opponents better or worse weapons, not just by placing a good weapon in the crate, but by potentially making yourself run out of weapons. I would like to be able to give a lower level player (in a points game) one or more good weapons from my inventory at the start of the game just to reduce forfeiting. This might also trigger a supply drop at the end of the game if I run out of weapons.

I play 1v1 30 round point battles. I would love to be able to gift single digit level opponents with one or more of my weapons that have already reached level 5. Other high level players might be encouraged to do so by making the gift a duplication of the gifter's inventory rather than removing them from inventory. Land crates could have 1 to 4 random L5 weapons from the gifter and look like Christmas presents. Hovering crates might look like Santa on his sleigh and hold duplicates of all the gifter's L5 weapons. Of course, while these weapons would be level 5 in the gifter's inventory the level would remain the same for the receiver as it would be in a normal crate.

A player might also elect to give his opponent duplicates of crate weapons throughout the game. This might be automatic, or might be triggered by hitting a gift button after each crate harvest.

crates should show what it gives for you to choose to go or not cause some crates are useless. Although it could stay the same for a high risk high reward kinda deal

That kinda defeats the purpose. and besides, I dont think that box rewards are predetermined, else, how would luck work?
