Hahaha well that's brutal. I'd recommend just expanding on the stats on individual players and allow it to be viewed (i.e. clickable tank names). And it'll keep track of how many games were played with a ratio of how many were finished. Of course, there would be a tally of W, L, and D and if the numbers don't quite add up...then you're dealing with someone who quite possibly doesn't finish too many games.

Why not just create a system where you got a level chance system? So you start at level 1. You got 10 chances, and for every quit you make, the chances go down from by 1. When it goes down to 1, it auto warns you. When you use that last chance, you can't play for 10 mins. Every chance you use is an automatic 1 minute. So when you use those 10 chances, your level goes up 1. When your level goes up, that's when you can't play for the appropriate time.

For level 2, you still get the 10 chances, but every chance you waste, it is 2 mins, and when your level goes up, same thing, that's when you do your time. This could go up to level 3, and when you level up from level 3, let's say you lose 500 xp. If someone's xp is below 500 xp, say 328 xp, then they get set back to the default xp when you start ssl2. Maybe the time and xp doesn't have to be so strong, but a little more than appropriate because of how many ragers there are.

wow, this thread is kinda old but i'm gonna post my suggestion though it's not very unique, it has elements of the solutions suggested before..
and besides.. since none of the ideas from november 24 2012 engaged @kChamp then probably this one's not going to do so either..
    so my thought:
tier 1: 1st quit = -10 xp, +1 min (you cannot play any game); then if you don't quit again within an hour, you're staying on that tier so after that hour you can leave again with penalty of minus 10 points and one minute lock. if you quit again before the hour's up, you're on the second tier
tier 2: 2nd quit (if you left a game within an hour after the first quit) = -20 xp, +2 minutes; if you don't quit again within an hour, then you're on the first tier again
tier 3: 3rd quit in a row = -50 xp, +5 minutes; if you don't quit in an hour, you're staying on the tier, if 2 hours ->back on first tier
tier 4: 4th quit in a row = -100 xp, +10 minutes; hour without a quit - as before, 5 hours - back on first tier
    tier 5: 5th quit in a row = -200 xp, + 20 minutes; hour without a quit - same, 10 hours - back on first tier
for the third quit on the 5th tier (o_Odon't know if that's even possible, but oh well.. maybe?.. some people are talented apparently :p) you're still losing 200 xp and got banned for 20 minutes but the reset is possible after 24 hours without quitting.
of course you get a warning for being on a certain tier and you get the information about the consequences of leaving. another thing is that with this solution first levels can get negative xp. this would only cause in delay in leveling up.
i hope this solution would not harm the people who quits intermittently.. if you play like a good citizen you can easily reset your rank within an hour.. i think that theOnlyGod said that some of the previous solutions wouldn't be good for him as he sometimes needs or wants to quit, so hopefully this one's acceptable for that matter.
i know that the maximum penalties are kinda hard to bear but.. they're also hard to "attain"..
and i know that some players would rather shut the whole game and never get back to it when they keep getting those penalties but i think that those players are also not very valued ones.. i think that for @kChamp it is also important to have the players that are kinda committed to the game, that stay, cares about their stats, achieves, eventually buys some stuff.. not those who just come and go when they get teed off without any reason

i'm not sure about that. if someone's got 3 millions xp, he loses 30 thousands  :) even if it was only 1%
on the other hand, if someone's got 100 xp, he loses just 1 point. :p that's less than the penalty right now and i suppose many of the quitters are rather low-leveled.. and what if someone have lost all his xp already? the % is not a good option then. with my suggestion, the player can get negative xp but when you're using % you can't take more away from him.. :D

What if they exit the tab? How would this feature work?

I still think the focus should be on removing the penalties given to those who stay. The reason people get upset is the xp you lose for not completing the game, and currently the forfeit bonus is really tiny. Instead of punishing someone for an immeasureable and sometimes non-rage-quit reason, reinstate the xp you lose because someone forfeits.

In 1v1 or team play, the nonforfeit "winning" player or players could get the full xp as if they won instead of a forfeit bonus. One of the remaining players (not the quitter) chould get MVP. For FFA matches, the final winner would get the full xp for winning, and the remaining players maybe could get an xp forfeit bonus.

The main danger in any of this is still creating a system where people bully others to quit in order to win more xp. This already happens in some games, but a lot in the 6 player FFA individual-shots. People want to start with 6 for the x2 bonus, but they try to bully others out so the game goes faster.

I agree with Erile if this is what shes saying.
Instead of taking away from quitters, people who stay should get a way higher xp bonus. In 1 vs 1's this would be very nice but would be abused with alts.

i'm not sure. someone said before that it can be solved as the game reacts only if a player leaves by clicking the appropriate button and confirming it. but this on the other hand leads to a paradox when everybody can easily bypass the penalties by closing the tab instead of leaving in normal way. so i'm not sure about that. i think that the penalties should be given anyway. it also happened to me that i accidentaly left a game by clicking some add or closing my browser by misstake but the 10 xp lost wouldn't put me in despair.

the forfeit bonus is completely other thing and i didn't bring it up because i thouht it is a matter for another thread (which was already created as i recall) and at this point i agree.
    it could be larger.
but still you can't get any forfeit bonus in deathmatches (you don't won then: you tie as the opponents tank was not destroyed by you) and if it is supposed to stay like that then i'm affraid the difference between bonuses in points match and death match would be akward.
i know that you can get the bonus dmg and xp in dm when you kill an enemy which is enough close to his teammates to hit them with his death explosion but it is kinda seldom and reffers only to more than 1vs1 matches.
so if the forfeit bonus in points mode is to be enlarged then i suggest doing something with the deathmatch forfeit bonus as well.

i'm not really sure what this argument is about. what bullying you have on mind? you can mute any player at any time.
and if there are no penalties for leaving (or they are insignificant) then it is even easier for everyone to leave the game just because someone said something mean or just rushed them.

and as for my suggestion of changing the penalties system i think that the high penalties would be rather rare and this modification wouldn't affect "normal" players who leaves only from time to time for concrete reasons. (i'm sorry for the utterance.. "normal"...)

Exiting the tab or shutting down the computer issue can easily be solved by setting up a detector. Yeah, closing the tabs means automatic logoff even in-game. So if it happens, let the game do the penalties for you.

I really think 10xp, 20xp, 40xp, 80xp, thing will just simply solve the issue. Why are people taking it so serious?

what exactly do you mean by "so" serious? :p :) i don't know who is just enough serious and who is yet too serious about it :p :D
i personally cannot remember a game that i left. but i know that i don't play as much as some people and when i do i usually try to be certain that i have some time for this so that i'm not forced to leave. but i can't talk for everyone and i heard that some players have to quit more often and that they wont be glad of putting up the penalties. but on the other hand i'm kinda tired of the rage quitters and i would really appreciate some solution for this. thats why i posted my, i hope - somewhat compromised suggestion

When somebody misses their first shot, doesn't matter if he's high level or low level, I never laugh unless it's extremely amusing. What annoys me the most is the fact that they can't even take a miss. Everyone has missed at some point. I have concluded from this that they quit because:
1)They don't want to get laughed at.
2)They used their best weapon and missed. They know they are going to lose.
3)They quit to annoy others. This is unlikely though.

[sorry that this goes off-topic a bit]
lol umhpf.. yesterday i played with a guy that left when he was doing bad.. but what's more imporant he waited again for his turn before leaving, moved to his teammate (stacking purposively) and then immediately he quitted, leaving his team in this unfavoured position (his teammates did nothing to deserve that).
he was a prestige player, i've played with him for a while before that and he was behaving ok.. i'm not sure of his name though.. 'bodibiuda' maybe.. something like that

I mentioned the word "unlikely" not "impossible". Of course, the possibility of a noob quitting and putting his allies in unfavourable positions can happen, as you previously mentioned.

why not just make it 1 tank coin per 200? It tricks people they are earning more, so they stay with the game. However, it is just the same as 5 per 1000. Sneaky, like kChamp. XD

If i was a quitter then that loss of 10xp would not bother me, i would look at my current overall xp and laugh at the loss of 10 xp!!!

    This is true.

Maybe the XP loss per quit should increase linearly along with the level?

I think the (quitter) should loose the xp amount they gained before quitting plus if they quit on indiv shot games were there x2or if they are deluxe then they loose x2 the amount of xp gained!! and for those who quit on first-second round should loose a standerd 1000 xp.. still a 1000 is not much to some of use but will make a big enough dent for lower prestige and non prestige quitters to think twice before trying to be a troll or rage quitting!!
