Hello everyone, this is an idea I thought over in my sleep. I have noticed that everyone has favourite maps, and maps that they just cannot stand. Some have similar opinions, others don't. So I thought, why not combine maps, with another underwhelming feature, to hit 2 birds with one stone? After pondering I was left with the idea: Why don't clans battle over "ownership" of maps in the game? In simpler terms, every map in the game can be owned or claimed by a certain clan, adding certain benefits to its members. However, this does not mean forever. Here is what I mean in a nutshell. Idea breakdown; A clan challenges the current owner (clan) of a map to a short 2v2(+) Team Deathmatch/Rebound match, there and then. The event is logged in both clan's event log. "PlayerA and PlayerB have successfully held off ClanX's PlayerC and PlayerD (dd-MM-yyyy)" Pros; This should encourage more activity Players may start to like certain maps More reason to partake in clans Constraints; A clan must have 5+ active members who have logged into the game over the past 2 days, to challenge and claim a map. As soon as a challenge is issued for a map, every respective online member is notified and has 5 minutes to respond to the challenge - if not, the challengers will claim it. Logging out will not stop the timer. If a clan claimed a map at a different timezone than the one of their current/consequent activity (trying to avoid confrontation), then after 3 days, a challenge will automatically be issued towards the current owner to do battle with the first clan to challenge them. (This should make clans recruit more, and play at different times so they are not able to avoid challenges) If it's a draw, the map is unclaimed, and a maximum of 4 clans (2 members from each), will do battle to see who is left at the end to claim the map Reward Ideas; Owning a map merits its clan members 1 gear/hour (Can vary depending on map difficulty). Certain maps allow its members to be able to spawn with a certain weapon, exclusive to the clan who owns the map (and can be used anywhere so long as they own the map). Certain maps give slight buffs like the Tank tree does, only slight additions like +20 fuel each member of the clan. Anymore suggestions/criticism feel free to give. [/FONT]
This could go either way for me. Probably with a few changes. Unless I understand things wrong, if a map is "owned", then other people cannot play on it ? Or is it purely for the benefits of rewards. I don't like the idea of a clan owning a map and then I wouldn't be able to play on it without defeating them. Unless that's not what you meant by it. I think custom maps would work well here, perhaps each clan would get one map that they own by default. This custom map that is made could also double as a "Clan Hangout Lobby" where all members in a clan can have their own "freeplay" style game mode. No turns, no time, unlimited weapons. When you win consecutive clan battles or tournaments, your hangout becomes a "Hotspot" and starts to gain benefits. The more consecutive wins that the clan has, the more benefits they are awarded. I like the fixed interval gear reward and the buffs, but I'm not sure about specific weapons. Me being a completionist, I'd like to have all of my weapons unlocked wherever I go, and not have a weapon strictly during times that I own a map. I do, however, think it'd be nice to get "Limited Edition" weapons that come around occasionally (but you can always get them when they are around). These weapons could pop and leave up rarely in the gear shop. With the Hangout Lobby, it has a lot of potential. It could have things that drift away from the game or bring it closer to "shoot n' splode". Perhaps buildable houses for each clan member (Winning clan battles gives more resources?) Scrolling giant maps (Winning clan battles grants the clan more size?) Dummy tanks, bumpers, and targets that can be set up. (Winning lets you set up more around your plaza) Clan Daily Win wheel that grants rewards like clan gear bonus, clan double xp/weapon xp, golden hue, etc Overall I like the idea and with changes and implementation to the game, it'd be epic.
To use another game-genre analogy: In a fictional world, a relic can be visited by anyone online. However, only one clan receive benefits from it, after challenging and defeating its past "master". So yea, just for bonuses, not for keeps. Will edit the OP to make it clear in a bit. =p o.o Did not think that far... Definetly something to look forward to, if ever, once all the dust has settled. Sounds like a Sandbox mode (like Firing Range, but Multiplayer). Was going with for example, the Sniper's Nest, one of the Sniper's tier has a higher chance of spawning every 10 rounds (including the start). New weapons would be hard to come up with for respective maps, if that's what you meant. >_> From what I've seen in your Weapon Ideas topic for SSLS, this should be developed IMO. Even if it's the keys to unlocking tier 3 of 2-tier weapons like Jumper/Satellite, etc. This would give another reason to play the game... but it's reminding me of Monopoly now. xD I wonder why this doesn't exist in the Firing Range already... Say what? o.o Players having their own "hideouts"? I think that's a little far'fetched for where we are right now... Maybe something for when we think we've done it all. Do I smell cosmetics? =p I'm guessing this is a feature to come in the distant future after more of the key components are out of the way. I'd sure love to color my tank, and pick a small logo like a star/flame/skull on my tank to distinguish amoung other players. I think this should have been a thing from the start. Maybe after countless profiling/engine optimization/, it could be done, possibly introducing more game modes that require the space... Invasion (Defend a piece of land or structure in the middle) / Ambush (advance past enemy lines). I bet you're sick of people suggesting these 2 modes, over and over. <_< I appreciate the feedback. Maybe our beloved dev gets a few more ideas here and there.
