I started playing SSL back in high school ('11 roughly). Then I migrated over to SSL2 a bit after it came out. Despite my somewhat low level, I'm pretty knowledgeable about the game (so don't label me a newbie by any means ). I've never really felt a need to make a forums account before but here it is for when the need arises. I mainly play SSL2, I don't own the steam version. I'd like to say I look forward to playing with you all but I can't. Because I have been for awhile now. Thanks for reading. Also I like purple.
I'm probably the opposite of you - been on forums end '11 ish, a lot more than the game. Have you gotten the Steam version by any chance? Also welcome.
Sorry had to point that out, but no, I don't play the steam version. The main reason for this is that I once tried to get some friends of mine to play SSL2 and they played for about 4 matches and then quit. I'd rather not pay for something (great as the graphics and price are) that I can't play with them. That's really the only point I have a Steam account tbh.
Oops, I probably skimmed through it a little too quickly, haha. And yeah majority of the people here got their Steam accounts just for the game.
Yknow, for whatever reason I'm starting to have issues with dc'ing from the servers one SSL2 now. This never happened before, and I don't feel like it's frequent enough to submit a ticket about or ask for help for. Maybe this is the sign that I should pop and get the Steam version...
Steam version is literally unenjoyable due to the fact that the player base is extremely tiny - averagely 20 players in lobby - and you must face against Lv80+ players with broken weapons and tank upgrades. The gap is just enormous at the moment, single player is the only fun thing. So unless you like extremely grindy and slow process games (10xp per match) or simply want to keep up with the current flow of SSL in general, I suggest you should hold off and stick to SSL2. Or at least, buy it during the sale.
I didn't even realize there was a singleplayer option, so I could play it when I go without internet (which is quite often). I don't really care about playing against high level players since 1) we all gotta start somewheres and 2) if it's anything like ssl1 or 2 it's possible to win at any level (I'm going to guess that it isn't but I'll find out). Anywho, I got the game before you guys replied so whatever. If there's a single player option then it's already worth it to me.
