suggested changes to ssl steam 1.2 xD

    hi all!lately i thougth about ssl steam difference between this game and ssl2 version and i still think that ssl2 is way funnier.i know ssl steam is still in beta so it s the rigth moment to share all ideas cause it s the perfect moment to make ssl steam a great game like the other ssl games.

    -increase the multiplayer games xp mult:i think that all players are bored of the 1 vs 1 games :/ and you can t say that 4 + people games aren t way funnier.But most of ssl steam players (like me) cares about xp then it s very very uncomon to play multiplayer games.so my idea is to increase xp mults of multiplayer games like ssl2 ones
    6 people=x2 xp
    the 1 vs 1 would still be the best way for xp,i m not suggesting those xp mults to grind faster only want to bring back multiplayer games and having some true fun in ssl
    -single player:i already suggested it(and many other players did) it would be nice to increase the single player cause it actually takes 0,1 % of the game.so maybe it would be nice to add 3 new missions sets but you can unlock thems by reaching a certain lvl so people will not finish it when it comes out but will do multiplayer/single player in a balanced way
    -daily tasks: that should increase even more the single player mode.each day you will get 3 daily challenges that makes you redo an old missions with a difficulty added.
    example:beat final boss mission with at least 500 hp left
    this 3 daily chalenges that you do in missions will make you earn the in game misson xp(if you beat the daily challenge)and a gear bonus
    ps:daily challenges is not my idea but i found it a very good suggestion so i posted here :)
    -increase gear shop stuff:so gear shop is actually really poor.here there is the list of stuff that would be nice to add
    -super sniper:the dmg folowing weaps logic from ssl2 to ssl steam should be 140 dmg from far range.it would cost 1000 gears and you should also have at least 50 k dmg on the sniper tier to unlock it.
    -breaker madness: price 2000 gears, breaker tier already have 4 upgreads so it would be a diffent tier with 2 steps.the first tier make the breakers break 1 time less than ssl2, each shot would do 10 dmg.tier 2 would do same number of breaks that ssl2 breaker madness(alaways 10 dmg each )
    -thems colors: i dont know what do you think about it but i find thems really important and i would be happy if black theme is added,it would be very cool(with that i obviously mean that more colors shall be added,also the legendary epic rainbow theme :p)
    edits to juggernaut mode:i ll not say anythiing more cause many people already said what changes should be added to this mode and they explained for sure 500% better than i would do.just search on forums general game talks

    EDIT:gear shop weaps should be disactivable cause their bonus weaps.you can say"it s your fault that you bougth that weaps" and my answer is"i want to complete the game thats all"
    since those weaps are BONUS weaps thems should be disactivable

    Anything positive in terms of feedback can only help. Doesn't matter if its just overemphasis on old ideas or completely brand new news.
    Steps need to be taken to keep us coming back. When I mean "us" I mean the average user as well, something we all can enjoy.
    I feel once we all reach burnout like many level 80 and up players are dealing with some problems will start occurring.

    Some of these include:

    • Once we reach level 100 is there a point in playing?
    Its obvious a few will reach this remarkably before BETA is finished. Most of us are getting to the point where we've bought, maxed, and unlocked everything there is.
    The only fun is once in a while seeing a weapon level to the next tier but mostly talking to the friend/player your grinding with. As was said there is no urgency to waste time in multiplayer matches cause of this.
    • We need more to do, buy, strive to unlock, and stuff to keep us coming on every day.
    Updates take a long time for big enough oens to be made for us but in a short amount of time they easily aren't appreciated as much because they are the only new thing to fix our attention. In a short while we grow used to it and then return to the waiting for next update phase we are expected to. If new updates and modes are updated all the time like Official Release is expected to bring, it surely seems not possible right now and mind blowing compared to what we have right now game wise.


    I could go on and on like we did on ssl2 threads countless times and even here to a degree but we need to let Kyle do it.
    Hes the developer and yeah his plan is far-fetched based off his previous work load but we don't have a choice.
    He made his promises and its his responsibility to live up to them despite how large the task is or how it looks like with each passing day hes falling behind.

    Maybe one daily challenge should be good enough for now. I do have some challenge ideas though.

    Kill Them: Kill 10 Tanks (100xp)
    Xp Collector: Earn 1000xp (25 Gears)
    Gear Collector: Collect 25 gears (100xp)
    Damage Dealer: Deal 5,000 damage (50xp)
    Daily Victor: Win 5,10,20 matches (50,100,200 xp)
    Match Player: Play 10,25 matches (50,100xp)
    Death Matched: Win 5,10 games of death match (50,100xp)
    Lots o Points: Score 1000,1500 points in a points match. (100,150 xp)
    E. V. OLVE*: Win a 1V4 match in Juggernaut as the Juggernaut (100xp)
    EVOL V. E*: Kill the Juggernaut in a 1V4 match. (100 xp)
    *Might need to change name because Copyright.
    Against All Odds: Win a 1V7 match of Juggernaut as the Juggernaut (150 xp)
    The power in numbers: Kill the juggernaut in a 1V7 match (150 xp)
    Assassinator of Assassins: Assassinate your Assassin [Win Assassin] (100 xp)
    Hit Man: Kill 5,10 Tanks in assassin (50,100xp)
    Skillz: Land 25,50 shots off of bumpers (25,50 gears)
    Portal Skillz: Land 25,50 shots through portals (25,50gears)
    Double Punishment: Land 25,50 shots with x2 (25,50gears)
    Double Skillz Challenge: Land 3 shots with a x2 and either a portal or a bumper. (50 Gears)
    Challenge Accepted: Land 3 shots with a portal and a bumper. (50 Gears)
    Challenge Accepted Pro: Land a shot through a portal, x2 and a bumper. (75 gears)
    Scavenger: Collect 10,25 boxes. (100,150xp)


    That's at least some challenges that can be done. Feel free to adjust them as some of them seem pretty low. Reminder though this is a daily challenge so if you are gonna adjust some of these keep the rewards under 300xp/100gears please. I also have achievement ideas too but I'll post them at a later time.
    Edit: Bolded the challenge names since it's easier to do on a computer than a phone.

    oh another thing that i forgot to say,i think that like ssl2 the grapichs shouldn t be that dark,i mean in ssl2 game start/lobby/everything in game was much clearer and the dark graphicjh of ssl steam keep hurting my eyes
    ps:thx for the feed back guys :D like google said the feed back and suggstions in most of cases can only be a good thing for the game so don t hesitate to post your ideas!:p

    Few points of view~

    I have no clue why kChamp wasn't able to come up with averagely 'good' achievements. While I'm usually a completionist when it comes to achievements (and usually have tons of fun unlocking them) SSLS ones are simply pain in the ass and simply not fun. They're quite good aspects of games and absolutely helps players remain attracted especially for an extremely repetitive and an awfully slow game like this. Many players enjoy achievements and will certainly improve the game in some way. They're also literally the easiest thing to implement in a game, literally. Even a brainless duck can do a better job than the current ones.

    Also something irrelevant; I noticed that Kyle often wastes [​IMG] ton of time implementing things which are hard yet happen to come out terribly bad, often pushing out either trashy spin-off weapons or utterly the least important things an almost-failing beta game requires. And to me this just seems like he isn't really learning from any of the mistakes made, no offense.

    To conclude this, I think we can all confirm here that Kyle is either lazy, only does what he wants unless the community bashes on him, or how about we just say it's time for him to get co-developers. He is clearly not doing good at all, and so far doesn't seem like he can handle the responsibilities of being a sole developer for a game. The game is not bad, the overall concept and style of the game is pretty cool, but right now it's like an ugly girl wearing a model mask.

    I don't want Kyle to fail. I really hope he takes that last bit of the post into consideration.

    Cool ideas, at first it looked like you were willing to have xp bonuses in the thousands and millions! But now I'm disappointed D:

    That is, if he reads it. I know he must have a life. But does that mean he can't pull out his smartphone, tablet, laptop and look at the ssl or steam forums? I know he's got other things he needs/ he'd rather be doing. But he must maintain constant communication, otherwise he's giving us a bad impression. I just wish he'd talk to us more. And if he knows he can't, he needs to ALWAYS give us a reason why he can't find the time to read our posts and comments. I've seen other indie developers reply to almost every comment, every post. I know Kyle can do it! It's not impossible, no matter what he's got on his plate

    I think the achievements should be completely overhauled and should give even more rewards, more xp, and give us gears too. Flattener should be removed and added to the gear shop, or at least be even easier to unlock through achievements. Flattener should honestly be the type of weapon a low level should have ffs! It's going to make those who already unlocked it angry, but it's their fault for going after a dumb achievement/ playing that long to get it. But this NEEDS to be done. It's Grindfest Live and something DRASTIC needs to be done! Not faster xp, not new weapons (Not right now :D) something else! kChamp whatever update you're planning take everyone's posts into account first!

    • Win an Assassin Match as the last tank standing.
    • Win a ffa 8 player match as the last tank standing.
    • Win a ffa having the last turn of all players to start the match.
    • Have over 100+ xp in game before after game bonuses.
    • Hit a Crit shot dealing over 300+ dmg.
    • Collect 10+ gears in a game. (1 vs 1)
    • Collect a gear from a crit and the 3 awarded after killing an opponent with a bounty.(1 vs 1)
    • With items turned on, don't use any items in a match.
    • Have no negative dmg dealt in a game.
    Theres a few I thought of early this morning.

    yhea i never understood why he enter on forums just after an update :/ i mean he should eneter before doing the updates so he can see/ideas and to make thems better....and yees like you said he perfectly can eneter in forum maybe 10 min before going to sleep.(but i don t think he has a so busy life how busy can it be if he doesn t even have the time to eneter in forums for 5 mins??)

    to holy:i lover your scond brand of achivements but lvling at lvl 5 items should do way more lol.i mean ahole said me that to get lvl 4 it neeeds 200 uses(+ 5 + 50) so lvl 5 needs something like 500?so maybe do at least 1k xp would be good(sorry i don t know how edit and add another reply)

    Exactly my point. Kyle's just slacking off on the sofa without even trying to provide any actual convincing reasons as to 'why' he cannot do it. I've not seen yet a single game - not flash - which has had a community without frequent interactions going on between the developers.

    If he wants to become a lone developer, that's fine. But I don't see any goods coming from that so far but rather making the game more "Eh". I don't get how difficult it is to just post a thread with an explanation to all of his questionable actions. I don't think kChamp is taking this as seriously as he should be, the game was released four months ago and there is barely any difference between that and current version. Kyle's update frequency is pathetically low especially considering his game is beta (contents is almost alpha tbh) and is nothing more than a glorified version of a flash game. He really isn't ready for anything.

    Maybe co-devs will take some time, but he could at least pick two or three legitimate and logical members as testers / idea managers to see if his new feature is going to be good or no. I know a handful of wise and creative people on the forums, should work perfectly fine.

    I'm sure he'd really like to have some developers to help him out. But money could be the issue. But it could be a great idea if kChamp gave a few selected good members of the ssl community premature access to new things he's implementing and they will give unbiased input into what's great and what's not. They'd find a time to game together with kChamp and chat things up about what he's adding. I can't guaruntee I'd be available at convenient times or have good input for that matter. I know we're all technically beta testers who already have premature access and there might not be any point giving early access to early access stuff, but still. I think it'd be nice not to push an update and have everyone complain about how bad it is and instead have the update approved by his beta testers before pushing it out.

    yhea kyle alaways been like this and when there was ssl/ssl2 he was ever wrost.But now he needs to change cause the gam
    we are actually all beta tester,and people like us that paid x2 of the actual price ssl should have this "early acces" but ,if you see there is still in ssl2 the part of deluxe that say"you will be the first to try new features"and it sill does nothin xD
    so yes it could be usefull if the players that paid it 15 dollars,that are probably all ssl veterans, have this early access

    Well he is a 23 year old guy whose probably still in college & has a life and stuff like normal 23 year olds have. I personally wouldn't put the game over life stuff so its definitely understandable. I've also known several flash games that end up having a slow paced update rate at times. I even know one game that's on its 3rd set of developers simply because the first two sets were just too busy with major stuff. Just be patient, anything that would be a with while update would take a bit of time as well bit wants that done it should make the other updates not seem as long.

    Last is @beagle99 & @xxtacotubesxx response towards the little xp in the achievements/daily challenges. Ok the achievements needing more xp makes sense, I just have it set up that way as the ones that we currently have are that amount which is why I tried to keep it similar, although some of them should give more xp as well. The daily challenge xp though I would be satisfied with that amount. It's a 1 time only xp for that day, but it would make it more fair on the lower end of levels since 100xp would be a good boost to them, unlike the achievements where you would have to be a high level anyways by the time you got some of those achievements.

    He himself said in-game to me that he graduated college already so he either has a job or looking for one. If he was crazily busy in life that he cannot even post on forums he shouldn't even have started the Steam version as beta. It makes no sense to me, why would one release a game as beta when he barely has time to be efficient with it? The predecessors were apparently giving him sufficient amount of money, Steam version could've waited and been released as a perfect game without any stress over him or us. (It was literally alpha for like a month)

    Thanks guys for the suggestions and feedback. This past month has been pretty crazy for me because I'm in the process of moving and am between permanent workspaces. The move should be all finished and I should be back to the grind in a week or two. Question: Would it be better for me to post threads here with development updates or on the blog? I would imagine it would be more convenient for me to just keep news on the forum. If so, I'll close down the blog and just keep things here.

    I would personally say the forum itself, considering how easier it is to access for many people.

    Congrats on that, we're fine with mostly whatever it is going on, just please make sure we know what you're up to as much as possible to prevent any kind of drama or pointless time being wasted coding all of that. Beneficial to both of us.

    Post it everywhere people would possibly see it, the SSL forums, steam forums and your blog as there are people who exclusively look for updates at one of those places so its best to just put it everywhere so it cannot be possibly missed unless your not looking to begin with.
