Weapon XP Farming Move to Mid games. Not a huge deal but something should be done about it.

I see lots of these games everywhere. I'm pretty sure these games really don't work as intended but literally everyone denies it when someone like myself tries to tell them it doesn't work. They tell me how fast they level up but I personally think it's only because they're not missing a single shot. I think it's silly how people are willing to exploit the game's mechanics and ruin the experience in this way. Especially after the leveling has been changed several times to be faster.

I know this isn't that big a deal but it still annoys me when I see this. I've never tried to play a weapon xp farming game, aside from the few times I tried joining them to try and tell them it doesn't work, but other people aren't moving to the middle either and people start quitting so I'm unable to communicate my message very effectively. As I've never finished a weapon xp farming game and am unwilling to do so, I've never seen for myself if the numbers add up.

It'd be great if someone could prove once and for all to everyone whether or not these games work. Maybe even an official message from kChamp on the lobby page or something. Or maybe a funny message in game that happens when the game detects 8 people stacking on each other. Whatever the case may be on these xp farming games, something should be done to stop them.

I agree that something needs to be done about this.

It bothers me people think this works and it absorbs a lot of players that could be spending their time more usefully in other modes than this waste of time idea.

A message coming from Kyle would at least convince people.

Before I give a thought, I am going to make this clear for anybody who comes in and says that it works....

THIS DOES NOT WORK AT ALL END OF DISCUSSION!

Here are some screen shots that show that it does not work as I've tested this before. The only exceptions to this are the lasers, partition/division, saw blades, and maybe static (I have to test this still). All of the other weapons don't work.

Now the thought, yea you're gonna need kChamp to put in a game message or something in the game to tell people that weapon xp farms don't work. No matter how much you tell someone that they don't work, they are just gonna ignore you and move on. It needs to be official.

Alternatively, he can make it so that tanks are shuffled around if the game thinks they are doing this, but that's just a thought.

I've spent a couple hours playing these "XP farming" games and this is what I think.

It's actually great for unlocking some achievements, I unlocked these just after one game:
I can't imagine doing it in a normal Deathmatch / Rebound game, for example. New players who have no "Hit ... in one shot" achievements will probably unlock them all at once, which is a great XP boost.

As for tank's XP, I agree, you won't get much, because you hit yourself all the time (if you follow the rules and stay with people). But you get:
    - Upgrades for lots of weapons. Yes, XP is divided, but you still deal lots of damage (sometimes up to 1500) and in the end you have +50/+100/+400 (yeah, it happened to me today) to several dozen weapons you used.
    - Lots of gears, because explosions are huge. I picked about 10 gears in each game I played.
    - Items from crates. No one is usually interested in them, so you can skip shooting others and aim for them.

The disadvantages of such games are:
    - You lose Skill Points, because you won't probably win this Points game if there're people with better weapons (higher levels).
    - Time consuming. People usually set it to 30 turns so one game can last 15 minutes or so. And if you quit, you gain nothing.
    - Requires no skill to play, so you won't become better as a player, you'll just get some upgrades and bonuses.

If you want to gain max XP, you should maximize your Gun and Track level, to deal more damage and to be able to group with others quickly and not be left out of the pit.

So I think these games have the right to live, but I find them boring so won't probably play them again myself.

I have an idea on how to stop this, but it's not going to be liked. How about we make people lose weapon xp for hitting themselves just as you would for regular xp?

I think an explicit message somewhere is probably the best way.

An update might have changed this, but I highly doubt you get xp if you leave

at least i asked to a lvl 8 why he thinks this satcks game are good.He said that he lvled first 7 lvls with one of this games without knowing that you the xp needed to lvl up first lvls is very very very very very very very low now

Well this one is pretty direct. It will make the point of stacking useless because no matter how many times you tell them they will still do it anyways.

Buddy, the proof is right there. Stacking might be fine for quick xp, but really, in the end it's not the best method for grinding xp for your tank or weapons.

I thought of something that if implemented may or may not work, or even be liked. But what if when ''x'' amount of tanks are all on top each other, the tanks are moved back to where they were last at, or even randomly scattered, this way people can't actually stack. Maybe it wouldn't work, but just throwing that out there.

If you make it so tanks can't stack in the first place and the move backward automatically if there is contact, that would stop it. This could also be enhanced to an area around the tank so they don't just line up in a straight line. This would only be effective if this was the case.

I don't understand how this is a problem, really. The two main arguments seem to be:

    1. It's inefficient;
    2. It takes players away from playing 'legitimately'.

Both of these arguments can easily be addressed and dismissed when you take it from the perspective that it's a game and people play it the way they want (and will play it differently than you). If they want to play an inefficient way, that's their choice. If they can't do XP farming any more, there's no guarantee that they'll decide to play 'legitimately'. They're playing the game how they want and in a way they find enjoyable. It's not malicious, or directly negatively affecting your game play (there's still 'normal' matches available) so it shouldn't be a problem.

TL;DR - This issue seems to boil down to "you're not playing the game the way I do/I want you to, so it needs to be fixed" which is just... very not correct.

Excellent points... The problem I have is that I believe a lot of people who stack are fooled into thinking that they're getting extra xp that they couldn't earn otherwise (In an 8 player game, they think they're getting 7 times the normal xp), hence why they even stack in the first place. It's not necessarily that it's inefficient, it's still more efficient time-wise (supposedly). At least until you're familiar enough with the game that you can get faster xp with harder settings. There will come a time where stacking won't be enough. Even if you earn regular xp like any other game but within a shorter time-frame, what would be the point of stacking anyway? But this all goes into the inefficient argument. But yes, if they want to remain oblivious to the facts, it shouldn't be anyone else's problem as it doesn't directly affect us. Everyone bought the game with their money, they have the right to play the way they want to (Even if it's misguided). I guess the motto of the day here is that trying to tell people the truth, even with clear, undisputible evidence, is pointless. No matter what side of the stick I choose, no matter what I do to try to make things right, even if it doesn't have anything to do with me, even if I don't have or need to, it's considered wrong, misguided, or even hypocritical.

Welp, look at that. I said "Not a huge deal" But I undeniably made it into one.

Joined a few, 1 to test. Definitely doesn't work. Rest to educate/troll if educating failed. A few people actually understood and were rather logical about it, a few play since they're the only points matches people make, majority though are very misunderstanding/mislead and will sooner insult than listen.

Edit: I can understand if it were simply another way for people to enjoy the game, but it looks more often like they're played either to boost (inefficiently and not for the fun of it) or because they're sometimes the only games available (there's always at least 1 'Join in middle' game available in lobby from what I've seen over past week while there's not always a normal match available).

Welp, attempted to educate (then troll if necessary ((it was necessary))) a few more of these. Wasn't like last sets, every single person was quite rude, really rude in fact so felt zero guilt this time around.

What I got out of this:
    - The best logic from their side was 'if everyone cooperates, it's faster.' My response of 'Rebound gives more either way' was disliked, heavily, 'Rebound gives shit' apparently.
    - I asked for proof they [xp games] work, they asked for proof that xp games don't. Gave them proof, they responded with no proof of their own, swears and a large scoop of insults.
    - Turns out I'm a 9yo, uneducated, a-hole, cockroach, idiot, scab with absolutely no logic or common sense.
    - "Being a high level doesn't mean you know this game, it just means you play a lot." Technically true, I guess.
    - Level 15's: 'I gained 6 levels in 1 round and 2 achievements!' really is enough 'proof' for them to believe in these 120%

Yeah.. I'd be okay with these if the people in them were in-general relatively kind and understanding and if this was only a different way of playing the game. That is rarely the case though. It's legitimately believed they work, those that believe too are allies, anyone who thinks otherwise though is the worst thing to ever be born, or at the least an enemy on a kick list.

The point isn't that these are faster, or to level weaps, or level tank. It's to stay bad and continue through the game while staying bad.

Edit: Also at 1st there were 2-3 level 70+ that ragequit because I said no to joining mid.

This is by far the lowest way to level weps, not only that but the whole time they would have been trying to level weps this way, they could have just learned to play the game properly. Some people are too stupid to realize.
