Rims: Master Thread

There has been much controversy over the new rims. Here is a place to express your opinions, concerns, happiness, or anything else you feels about them.

A few key topics about rims:

• Are Rims overpriced? Are they more of a donation to kChamp from the long term players or do you see them as too much money?
• Should these rims do anything except for look cool? Give tank coins? make you fly (I believe that was suggested by Charlotte )?
• There are a few bugs, such as the rims becoming darker as you go up hills.
• The rims do not show up when you are in the game lobby about to play.

Any other things that you feel are important towards rims will be accepted into this thread.

 

...Yeah...These rims should do more than just look. And they don't even do that well. I was in a game with someone. and around 16/30, I just then realized they had Chrome.

 

Well, it's not exactly rims, but it is a tank modification.... a friend in-game asked me to suggest lights that go under your tank, or rims that spun when you stopped. Probably not gonna happen.
As for the appearance aspect... is there any chance that rims could affect other parts of your tank, such as making the treads chrome or gold too? Because as they are, they're tiny...

 

They just change the color of 22 pixels...Why not about the whole bottom half of the tank?

 

Well, about their function... Would a discount work? For example, for Chrome you could get a 5% discount in the Upgrades store, and Gold could be 10%. That, or the same bonuses could be applied to xp, with 5 and 10% bonuses. No flying though

 

Well, they do that... but what about the size issue? Most people don't notice them for an entire game.

 

-Ahem- Me. How about something that makes them stand out more? Like a color hue adjuster. Like you can change how dark/light you want your chrome/gold rims to be.

 

Ya that would be nice, or they could have kind of a sparkle.

 

They won't? If you buy both, does the one you bought last stay on?

 

It would be good if there was an option to swap between rims if a user owns both sets. Also I think there could be an option where you can wear rims or simply take them off too.

 

maybe if you own rims you can get an additional 5 tank coins per month (chrome) and 10 coins per month (gold) just to give a little bit of a reward.

 

I have been saving up for chrome rims for like 3 months now and already have 287....I think they are awesome and are worth it.....

 

So...35 bucks for changing the color of 22 pixels? Seems legit.
Dynamite1 went way beyond that. 140 bucks.

 

I just do free offers and once a while a payed offer if it is relevant to what i need. Also i save up from crates. I do not think it is worth it to purchase with real money, unless you are super dedicated to this game.

 

You payed for the game, yes? And, really, it's not that bad. It's worth it to pay money to get the best stuff, for something you love.

 

I think the rims are not overpriced because they are really meant for dedicated players who want to contribute to kChamp. I wish they were able to be seen in lobby. I don't really know if they should do anything besides look cool because they are just a donation after all and are not "meant" to do something. I finally have enough tank coins to buy chrome rims but am debating whether to buy them or not because weapon pack 4 is coming soon...

 

I would veto against them, since weapons are more valuable then accessories. And cheaper.

The next weapon pack is 80 tank coins. WP 1 and 2 will soon convert to 80.

 

I am pretty sure I can get 12 by then so it shouldn't be a problem.

 

It's not like there's only going that one WP is going to be the last item ever to come out...And Rims don't really do anything, except make your tank's look modified.
